Blasta Books #23: Blasta Pasta

Two Italians, Two Regions, One Table

What happens when two food-loving Italian musicians meet in an Irish kitchen? The result is Blasta Pasta, a collection of recipes and stories that celebrate the rich diversity of Italian regional cooking while also embracing the ingredients and flavours of a new home.

Having each spent more than half a lifetime in Ireland, Enrico Fantasia and Francesco Turrisi bring together the food heritage of their respective regions: Venice, the historic gateway to the East, and Sicily, where centuries of cultural exchange have left an unmistakable mark on the cuisine.

From handmade pasta and cherished family recipes to contemporary dishes inspired by Ireland’s exceptional produce, at its heart, Blasta Pasta is about the joy of gathering around the table, no matter where you're from.

About the authors

Enrico Fantasia grew up between Venice and Reggio Emilia, where he developed a passion for music and food from a young age. After a decade playing French horn in European orchestras, he surrendered to his real vocation and embraced a career cheffing. He now lives in Dublin, where he works as a wine importer and wine storyteller, co-owns a restaurant, cooks for friends and ties flies in fly fishing shows around the world.

Francesco Turrisi is a Grammy Award-winning musician, composer, researcher and passionate home cook whose work explores the connections between culture, history, migration and storytelling. Of Sicilian origins and now based in Dublin, Francesco believes that cooking and music are simply different expressions of the same art: telling stories.
